During a visit to Uruguay for personal reasons, Information
Builders CEO Gerald Cohen had the opportunity to reach out
to his Uruguayan software industry counterparts during a
luncheon in his honor at the residence of U.S. Ambassador
Frank E. Baxter. Mr. Cohen noted the global computer industry
has substantial room for growth and that Uruguay has the
talented population international investors seek when they
consider establishing high technology operations in foreign
countries. He also told his guests that he sees every reason
to be optimistic about Uruguay and its high tech future,
based on the natural beauty of this country and the exceptionally
polite people he has met during his trip here.
In welcoming Mr. Cohen, Ambassador Baxter stated, “Uruguay’s
attraction as the potential software and financial center
of MERCOSUR received a boost today, due to the visit of
Gerald Cohen.”
