The official presidential delegation headed
by U.S. Secretary of Labor, Elaine L. Chao arrived in Uruguay
today to represent President George W. Bush at the Uruguayan
presidential inauguration to take place tomorrow, March
1st.
Elaine Chao is accompanied by Marilyn Ware,
chairman emerita of the American Water Works Company, Laura
Genero, Associate Deputy Secretary, and Jeffrey Eubank,
Deputy Director of Protocol.
The first item on Chao's schedule was a
bilateral meeting with outgoing Uruguayan president Jorge
Batlle at the Presidential Office, followed by a cocktail
reception hosted by President and Mrs. Batlle in honor of
the heads of official delegations at the MERCOSUR building.
