Young political leaders from the U.S. visit Uruguay
ACYPL delegation completed weeklong
visit as part of their practical education program

A nine person group
from the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL)
representing many different regions of the United States
completed on September 13, a weeklong stay in Uruguay meeting
with several important figures from the three major political
parties and leading businessman from very diverse industries.
The ACYPL is a bipartisan,
non-profit educational exchange organization dedicated to
fostering relations between the next generation of political
leaders in the United States and their counterparts around
the world. Its practical education programs include international
exchanges, foreign policy and democracy conferences and
election study programs.
Each year ACYPL sends
young Americans (age 25-40) on political study tours abroad
and organizes reciprocal visits to the United States. Participants
learn diplomatic skills, engage in dialogue on bilateral
issues and forge professional relationships through the
unique access they receive to the political leadership of
the nation(s) they visit.
The delegation visiting Uruguay this year
is headed by the Honorable Joseph Thompson, attorney from
the Barnett Law Firm in New Mexico. The delegates are: Michael
Biggs (D), Director of Policy of the Office of Policy and
Strategy U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services - Washington
DC; Tanya Cook (D), Assistant to the Governor for Urban
Affairs - State of Nebraska; the Honorable Julie Lassa (D),
Senator - State of Wisconsin; the Honorable Ryan Taylor
(D), Senator - State of North Dakota; the Honorable Chad
Christensen (R), Member - Nevada State Assembly; Steven
DiMasi (R), Senior Director of Government Relations for
Cendant Corporation - Virginia; the Honorable Michelle Fischbach
(R), Senator - State of Minnesota; and Araceli Gonzalez
(R), founder AG Business Services - California.
