ART IN THE EMBASSY

PHILIP DAVIES

The Art in the Embassy Program offers Embassy staff and visitors the possibility to enjoy original art by Uruguayan plastic artists through monthly exhibitions held in the lobby of the Embassy.

Philip Davies was born in Montevideo in 1958.

In 1971, at age 13, he joins the José Arditti art studio.

Throughout his career, his inclination for the arts is accompanied by a strong scientific vocation. In 1978 he enters the School of Agronomy where he studies botanical sciences graduating in 1984 as an Agricultural Engineer. In 1978, his British roots take him to Aberystwyth, Wales, where he continues to specialize in botanical agriculture, graduating in 1988 as a Master of Science.

From the very beginning of his artistic career Davies has participated in exhibits by the Arditti studio, starting in 1976 at the Crandon Institute.



The Cultural Affairs Office is responsible for organizing and implementing the Art in the Embassy Program.
